Some girls had American Girl Dolls or Polly Pockets...

I had my Twists, J-14s, and TigerBeats. Now, over a decade later, it's safe to say I've expanded my taste in magazines-- from The New Yorker to People to Cosmopolitan and more.

I enjoy being reminded of how any of these unique publications can transform itself into a brand and am constantly inspired by all the potential that comes with a single magazine article or issue. Despite the range of content and the pressures of the digital environment, all stories, publications, and subjects share one key characteristic: a dedication to reporting.

And that is a message that resonates with me.

In my own work as a professional storyteller, I strive to achieve this. Whether I'm writing a personal essay, reporting on the latest celebrity news, or even investigating sexual harassment and mental health on campus, just one concept stands paramount to the others: the passion, tenacity, and dedication for a story and the ability to create unique and engaging content.
